After the first Pure Audio Blu-ray on a major label – Solti’s Ring on Decca Classics – msm-studios add another six Pure Audio Blu-rays to their list. And amongst these we find another world premiere: TrondheimSolistene’s Souvenir is the first Pure Audio Blu-ray with a 9.1. Auro-3D surround stream, which sits next to a stereo, 5.1. and 7.1. stream. As Erik Fosnes Hansen puts it in the essay accompanying the 2L release: “What we as listeners encounter here is sheer auditory bliss.”

Also the other brand-new Pure Audio Blu-ray on 2L, the Hoff Ensemble’s Quiet Winter Night, is in no way less exceptional. Consisting of Norway´s finest jazz and session musicians, fronted by trumpeter Mathias Eick of ECM renown, the ensemble takes you to other places. This acoustic jazz session is just the perfect soundtrack for, yes, quiet winter nights.

Furthermore, US label Sono Luminus is going strong with four more Pure Audio Blu-rays: Ars Lyrica’s latest breathtaking rendering of Domenico Scarlattis La Dirindina; the Modern Mandolin Quartet’s Americana, a journey through American music from Copland, Dvořák’s String Quartet No.12 (“American”) to Bernstein, Gershwin and Glass; the Pacific Mozart Ensemble’s magnificent debut collection of works from the hands of Dave Brubeck entitled Brubeck & American Poets; and the Baton Rouge Symphony Chamber Players’ excellent venture into the music of Weill, Ibert and Berg.
